Marcus Gillette, Director
Marcus Gillette has represented the RNG industry with the Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas (RNG Coalition) since 2014, serving as Director of both Government and Public Affairs. Splitting time between Bend, OR and Washington, DC, he advocates for development and deployment of biogas and RNG, educating policy and regulatory decision-makers on the benefits and opportunities for RNG in North America.
Growing up in Oregon’s outdoors, Mr. Gillette is passionate about innovative initiatives that result in positive environmental impact. Through his professional background in international non-profits, finance, business and community development, and extensive travel, he has been gripped by the power of local businesses and communities to be vessels of change. Mr. Gillette received his B.A. in Economics & Business from Westmont College, an MBA from American University’s Kogod School of Business, and he recently completed an M.A. in International Development from the School of International Service at American University.
David Cox, Co-Founder & Board Member
David Cox is Director of Operations, General Council, and a co-founder of the Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas (RNG Coalition). Under his leadership, the RNG Coalition has grown to a national and increasingly international force for the advancement of RNG. Mr. Cox is widely recognized for his leadership in law and policy, including securing RNG’s place as the predominate source of cellulosic biofuel under the federal Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS2).
Mr. Cox is an attorney and graduate of the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law. He received his B.A. from Westmont College. Prior to working for the RNG Coalition, Mr. Cox spent six years as staff in California State Assembly where he played an instrumental role in major Energy, Environmental and Transportation policies. He is a frequent speaker on RFS2, LCFS, and other environmental credit and incentive programs.
Johannes Escudero, Co-Founder & Board Member
As an entrepreneur, advocate, and ordained minister, Johannes Escudero is passionate about increasing awareness regarding the redemptive qualities associated with generating renewable energy from waste streams for the benefit of the environment, the economy, and the human beings and animals impacted by both. Mr. Escudero co-founded and has been CEO of the RNG Coalition since 2011, leading the organization to provide the North American renewable natural gas (RNG) industry with an advocacy voice and public policy platform. The RNG Coalition has expanded and created new RNG markets at the federal, state, provincial, and local government levels in the USA and Canada. Its membership is increasingly international and includes leading companies and organizations from each sector of the RNG industry - including producers of 90% of the renewable natural gas in North America.
Mr. Escudero has more than 15 years of organizational leadership and business development experience, with a diverse background in non-profit management, higher education, politics, governmental, legislative and regulatory affairs. Prior to founding the RNG Coalition, Mr. Escudero served as Legislative Director in the California State Assembly, serving ranking members of the Budget, Transportation, Utilities and Commerce, Natural Resources and Environmental Safety & Toxic Materials committees.
